WWE Ally, USA Network And Syfy President Chris McCumber Leaves NBCUniversal

WWE is losing a big ally at NBCUniversal as Chris McCumber has exited as President of USA Network and Syfy.

Deadline reports McCumber’s team was notified in a memo. There has been a major realignment of NBCU’s streaming and leaner TV group, which introduced a new centralized structure under Mark Lazarus, Chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.

McCumber joined USA in 2001 and has led the network since 2011. He was influential in WWE being on the network as he is credited with spearheading negotiations for some of the biggest NBCU cable programming deals, including licensing WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown. At USA, he was the point person overseeing the network’s long partnership with WWE.

This news comes nearly a week after Bonnie Hammer, another WWE ally, got a new role at NBCU. You can learn more about Hammer’s new role by clicking here.

WWE signed a new five-year deal with USA Network in June 2018. The deal officially started in October 2019. WWE programming is also available on the new Peacock Network through NBC.
