WrestleCon Announces It Has Settled Its Financial Issues With Marriott
WrestleCon and Marriott Tampa Westshore have been able to resolve the financial issues that would have otherwise devastated WrestleCon.
It was revealed on social media that both sides have been able to come to terms on the Force Majeure clause. This means that WrestleCon isn’t being held responsible for liquidated damages worth more than $100,000 as a result of WrestleCon canceling due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Originally, WrestleCon had booked the Marriott as the host hotel for the event. The Marriott claimed that it is not illegal or impossible for WrestleCon to run as scheduled despite it being recommended by President Donald Trump that gatherings of more than ten people do not occur as the coronavirus spreads.
A number of wrestlers, including Chris Jericho, took to Twitter to defend WrestleCon and looked to get Marriott to reconsider its stance on the matter. In a Twitter thread, WrestleCon said the Marriott noted that Jericho and other prominent wrestling figures had nothing to do with the change.
We’d also like to thank the NY Yankees and Steinbrenner Field for agreeing today to return our rental payment, in full, due to circumstances. They are an outstanding organization and if we are able to return to Tampa in the future, they will be our first phone call.

The event was going to take place during WrestleMania weekend. As for WrestleMania itself, the show has been moved to the WWE Performance Center on April 5.
