William Regal Admits WWE Looked At Ospreay And Scurll

William Regal says not getting Will Ospreay and Marty Scurll impacted others on the roster.

The WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament took place in January. Two names missing from the bracket were Ospreay and Scurll. The two were also absent from WWE Cruiserweight Classic last year. NXT GM and face of the United Kingdom tournament Regal spoke about the two wrestlers absence. In a video posted by Rebellious Noise, he says WWE definitely knew about Ospreay and Scurll.

“Of course they did, they came for the Cruiserweight show as well but they were doing other things. That’s just the nature of the industry we’re in. Some people you can get, some people you can’t, and some people get opportunities because people like those guys who are doing incredibly well. Jack Gallagher, nobody heard of him. But I knew about him and because one of those two guys wasn’t in that tournament he got an opportunity in that and look what its led to with him and everyone is talking about him. Those guys are already doing wonderful, no doubt they’ll end up coming to work here one day. Whenever they’ve finished up whatever they’re doing, but it gives a lot of people a great opportunity,” said Regal.

Scurll has been finding success in Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. Ospreay is having success in those two promotions and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Regal would also state that he believes the talent brought in for the Cruiserweight and United Kingdom tournaments are adding value to NXT.
