On the October 2nd episode of AEW Dynamite, Ricochet challenged Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship. The match initially ended in a draw after a double pinfall. Ospreay and Ricochet wanted to keep going, and the match continued under Tony Khan’s orders. However, Konosuke Takeshita ran in and attacked both Ospreay and Ricochet. He raised Ospreay’s AEW International Championship, making it clear that he wanted the gold.
Tony Khan then took to Twitter/X and announced that Ospreay would defend the AEW International Championship against Takeshita and Ricochet at AEW WrestleDream.
