The Voice Of The NWO Neal Pruitt Had The Same Target Pajamas As Dennis Rodman

In 1998, WCW pulled off a major crossover match when they had Dennis Rodman and Karl Malone across the ring from each other just a month after they battled in the NBA Finals.

Rodman teamed with Hulk Hogan while Malone teamed with Diamond Dallas Page at Bash at the Beach. Before the match took place, the two teams filmed vignettes to hype the bout. Neal Pruitt, who served as the voice of the NWO, joined the Randy Cruz on the Wrestling Basement podcast to discuss what it was like working with Malone and Rodman.

“I was cast to have a wonderful project, which was to do videos with Hogan, Rodman, DDP, and Karl Malone. The video was to go out to Planet Hollywood in Hollywood to promote their match. I had never met Rodman before. I went to Hogan and wanted to explain to Rodman what was going on and how we operate. He said, ‘No problem.’ I said, ‘First, I have to tell you a story. You see those pajamas he’s wearing? My mom just bought my brothers and me a pair of those pajamas at Target. I got those same pajamas at home.’ He thought that was hilarious. [Rodman] has something for sure. I don’t know what the appeal is, but it’s there. He was very cooperative and did exactly what we needed him to. Karl Malone was really into it and DDP is very exciting and can get people fired up. It was cool to see them get together and see their game plan and get the energy up. It was a pleasure to work with all those guys, they were very professional,” he recalled.

In a separate interview, Eric Bischoff said Rodman may have shown up to training hungover, but when he got into the ring, he was a total pro. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
