Vince McMahon Would Have Given Cody And The Young Bucks Advice About Promoting All In Had They Called
All Vince McMahon wanted was a heads up about All In. Not so he could shut it down, but so he could…help?
Cody and The Young Bucks were guests on Talk Is Jericho this week in a interviewed taped back on June 9. During the interview, Jericho brings up what Vince McMahon said to him when he mentioned All In to the WWE owner.
“I told Vince about All In about four or five months ago. We were just discussing — shooting the breeze — and I told him, ‘Yeah, the show is in September and in Chicago. And he goes, ‘Aw, I wish they would have called me. September is the worst time of the year to promote. It’s terrible.’”
Cody jokes and imagines how that conversation may go. “Hey Vince, it’s Cody. I’ve got the Young Bucks on the phone. Couple questions about promoting in the fall.”
As evident by their ticket sales, Cody and The Bucks had no issue promoting in September. While Vince didn’t directly warn them about the struggles of promoting in the fall, former Ring of Honor owner Cary Silkin tried to give them advice when it came to ticket sales.
“Cary Silkin implored us — laid into us — about, ‘You can’t go on sale on a Sunday and you’ve got to do a pre-sale,'” said Cody. “And we had already announced (when tickets go on sale). He kept going and we saw him a few weeks after the sell out and he said, ‘I was so wrong.’”
All In sold out in 30 minutes and has been labeled The Biggest Independent Wrestling Show Ever. The action goes down next Saturday, Sept. 1. Fightful will provide live coverage of the event.
