Vince McMahon Had No Memory Of EC3 As Derrick Bateman

Apparently, Vince McMahon had no memory of EC3’s former persona, Derrick Bateman. But, that may be for the best.

EC3 is now controlling his own narrative, embracing the freedom that he has gained now that he has been released from WWE for a second time.

Upon being signed back to WWE after his tremendous run in IMPACT Wrestling, EC3 was a far cry from the Derrick Bateman character he portrayed when he had been released by WWE the first time. Apparently, he was so far from Derrick Bateman, that Vince McMahon didn’t even know who that was when he suggested that WWE pick him up.

Speaking with Louis Dangoor of WrestleTalk, EC3 recalls hearing about how he got offered to come back to WWE after Vince McMahon watched IMPACT Wrestling.

“I think [Vince McMahon] had no clue,” begins EC3. “I actually heard one time, there was a meeting and they were watching Impact and I came out and I don’t even remember who told me, but somebody in creative, and [Vince] was like ‘Who is this guy? We should get him.’. They’re like, ‘Derrick Bateman.’ He’s like, ‘who?’”

Despite the fresh start, EC3 still did not have the WWE run he was looking for. Now, he controls his own narrative in IMPACT, and wherever else he chooses to go.
