The Undertaker: Extending My Career With Cinematic Matches Doesn’t Appeal To Me
The Undertaker is set to have his farewell at WWE Survivor Series and he remains steadfast in his desire to not wrestle again.
Undertaker wrestled his last match at WrestleMania 36, defeating AJ Styles in a Boneyard match, which received rave reviews for its cinematic presentation. Many believed Undertaker could extend his career by working a cinematic match each year at WrestleMania, but he doesn’t sound too keen on that idea.
“It really doesn’t appeal to me because basically what it is, is working around my limitations,” he told the New York Post. “It’s capitalizing on some of my ability and some of my creative ability to tell a story but basically it’s trying to mask some of the lack of my physical abilities at this point.”
Though Taker believes working cinematic matches would prolong his career, he feels resorting to that style would be “cheating.”
“I realized I have taken every physical gift, tool that I have and have used it up. There’s no water left in the sponge, if I can use that analogy. I’ve rung everything I could get out of that sponge,” he said.
Undertaker said he’s still training, but he’s not training for a match, he’s just working out to stay in shape.
WWE is set to honor Undertaker for his 30-year WWE career at Survivor Series.
