Ultimo Dragon To Return To Dragon Gate In July
Ultimo Dragon is returning home.
On July 21, Ultimo Dragon will make his return to Dragon Gate for the first time since 2004 at Kobe World Memorial Hall. Dave Meltzer first reported the news in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dragon was with the promotion, then called Toryumon, before their falling out. Toryumon would become Dragon Gate after the two parties split ways and Dragon took the name and trademarks with him. Toryumon was designed to give trainees of Ultimo Dragon’s school their initial in-ring experience.
Dragon trained three classes of students during his time with the promotion “Toryumon Japan,” “Toryumon 2000 Project” (T2P), and “Toryumon X.” His trainees included Dragon Kid, Magnum TOKYO, CIMA, SUWA, Taiji Ishimori, Milano Collection AT, and more. Following the split, Dragon took the Toryumon name to Mexico and helped trained current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada.
He last wrestled for the promotion on July 4, 2004, against Katsuhiko Nakajima. It is unknown who Ultimo Dragon will face in his return to the company. PAC (formerly Neville in WWE) is the current king of Dragon Gate as the Open the Dream Gate Champion.
