UK Indy Talents Removed From Upcoming Events Due To WWE Contracts

Several talents have been pulled from upcoming independent events due to their WWE contracts as part of the UK Championship tournament. PWInsider reports that the talents’ contracts prevent them from appearing on iPPVs that will be on competing streaming services such as FloSlam. This means International Pro Wrestling United Kingdom, or IPW: UK, and Lucha Forever are unable to freely use these wrestlers and this conflict has led to their being removed from the cards.

IPW: UK has announced that Pete Dunne and Joseph Conners will no longer appear on the televised portion of Sunday’s show. Dunne's match is now dark and Conners has been pulled from the main event. Dunne will also work a dark match for Lucha Forever's show, having been pulled from Lucha Forever’s four-way ladder match main event.

According to the PWinsider report, WWE UK Championship talents Dunne, Mark Andrews and Trent Seven were supposed to appear at a live, “Working a Resthold” podcast Q&A in advance of a WXW show in London next week, but the trio has now been removed. Here is a statement from the podcast:

“Unfortunately, yesterday afternoon, Scott Andrews was informed that due to their new WWE contractual obligations, Trent Seven, Pete Dunne and Mark Andrews are now unable to participate in the show. On behalf of myself, Dannii and Marianne, we’d like to wish all three the very best for the future and would like to thank them for their professionalism.”

PWInsider also adds that the talents' contracts stipulate that they are not allowed to appear at events that would be posted online on services such as Vimeo. As a result, in some cases, theit mathes are becoming dark, being moved to before or after the main show. Some performers are simply not going to get anymore bookings, as there are definitely some promoters who don’t want to have to tiptoe around WWE's restrictions..
