Two Titles Change Hands At NJPW Road To Wrestling Dontaku!
Minoru Suzuki added another piece of gold to his arguably hall of fame worthy career last night and Roppongi Vice are kings of the Jr. Heavyweight tag team division yet again.
Last night Minoru Suzuki made history and became NEVER Openweight champion for the first time. Roppongi Vice faced Suzuki-gun's Taichi and Yoshinobu Kanemaru and became four time IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team champions even after plenty of interference by El Desperado and Miho Abe, Taichi's faithful companion, Taichi and Kanemaru drop the belts on only their second defense. Hirooki Goto fought his hardest to retain his title, but Desperado hit him with a chair when the referee was distracted by Suzuki. Suzuki then hit his Gotch Style Piledriver and Goto' s reign ended on its fourth title defense.
At nearly fifty years of age Suzuki seems to be in the twilight of his career, but he's certainly still got enough time to become IWGP Intercontinental champion and IWGP World Heavyweight champion. Suzuki has won every major belt in both Pro Wrestling NOAH and All Japan Pro Wrestling, including having won the infamous Triple Crown in AJPW.
