Tully Blanchard Accepts That Wrestling Has Evolved Past What He Was Known For In The 80s

Tully Blanchard understands that evolution is a part of life.

It has been 30 years since Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson were in the same promotion together. They were never employed by the same company after both men left the WWE in November of 1989. However, now they are both in AEW and even if they are on opposite sides of the morality spectrum, they will always have the bond of The Four Horseman to bring them together.

While Arn Anderson has remained in the industry for the last 30 years, Kelly Blanchard took an extended leave of absence. The world that exists today inside of the wrestling industry is much different than the one he left behind.

When asked by Chris Jericho on his podcast how he feels about the evolution of wrestling, Blanchard acknowledges that he would do things differently as a performer but understand that the industry, much like life itself, is always moving forward will never go back to the way it was.

“Well, I think I’ve been gone for a longer period than either one of you guys, and so I come back and I look at stuff and I recognize holes that I would probably adjust if me and Arn were transformed back into this period and go, ‘okay, this is what we got to do,’ and it is. But you’ve also got to realize that it’s never going back. Just like our country’s never going back or the world’s never going back. You can’t go back to the wristlock and get heat.”

Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard will be a focal point of the Tag Team Appreciation Night coming on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, on AEW Dynamite. This will be hosted by FTR.
