Triple H Says Donald Trump Believed That Vince McMahon Actually Died In That Limo Explosion

Professional Wrestling is fake, they say.

But not to Donald Trump, apparently.

Deadspin and the New York Daily News each published stories today about an old 2008 Triple H interview on the Opie and Anthony Show that has resurfaced and is now going viral. In that interview, Triple H discussed the 2007 storyline where Vince McMahon apparently faked his own death and was blown up in a stretch limo. WWE announced that McMahon was "presumed dead," and even planned a funeral for Vince on the June 25, 2007 episode of RAW.

However, it was learned on June 25 that Chris Benoit and his whole family were dead. It would later come out that Benoit had killed his wife, his young son and then himself in a horrific double murder-suicide. The "Vince Fakes His Own Death" angle was cut short and scrapped.

But the time of the limo explosion, many WWE fans actually wondered if it was real. Triple H revealed during the radio interview that Future President-elect Donald Trump was one of the ones who bought it. At the time, at least, Donald Trump thought that sports entertainment was real.

"What kills me is so that many people [thought Vince was dead]," Triple H said. "I'm not kidding you, he'll probably get mad at me for saying this, but Trump called and was like, 'Did something happen to Vince?'"

You can watch the Opie & Anthony interview, which also includes Triple H talking about how the infamous Katie Vick funeral home scene was shot, at the top of the page.
