Triple H Presents London Bridge Hero With Gifts And Praise
Triple H says the WWE family is proud of Charlie Guenigault.
On June 3rd, the area around the London Bridge was attacked by terrorists with knives and a van. There were eight people murdered and dozens injured. An off-duty police officer named Charlie Guenigault received some media attention for his heroics. He sustained stab wounds and other injuries as he tried to stop the attackers. On Tuesday, WWE.com published a video of Triple H visiting Guenigault and officially welcoming him to the “WWE family.”
“There’s a lot of people that are standing up and walking around because of you. Thank you,” said Triple H. “I think a lot of people in their lives say ‘if I was there, I’d do this.’ I think a lot of people put that in their head, but to actually to do it. I don’t care if you’re trained or not, to say you’re going to do it and to do it are two different things. It’s amazing and awesome that you did. Thank you for doing that. You’re a hero. You should be proud of that…We consider WWE a big family and if you like what we do then you’re part of the family. Our family is proud of you,” he continued.
Guenigault was wearing a Sami Zayn shirt during his heroics. Triple H showed Guenigault a video of Zayn explaining how he felt about what Guenigault did. Triple H then gave him a new, signed Sami Zayn shirt and the top prize of WWE.
“In our world, in the world of show business that we are in. In the WWE Universe, the biggest thing we can reward somebody is to make them WWE Champion. It’s the symbol that says you’re the best. It’s the symbol that says we believe in you to carry the company. It can also be the symbol that you’re a hero,” said Triple H. “In the WWE family, you’re a true hero,” he added.
Guenigault has been home from the hospital for weeks after suffering multiple stab wounds. He was unaware of Triple H coming to see him and in his own words his reaction was “not suitable for a PG audience.”
The video of his encounter with Triple H can be seen above and the video message from Zayn can be found at WWE.com.
