Triple H: NXT Has The Luxury Of Not Having Three Hours Of TV And Monthly PPVs
Triple H talks long-term storytelling.
A big difference between the NXT brand and the main roster in WWE is the long-term storytelling done in NXT. The feud between Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano over the NXT Title ran from WrestleMania weekend to SummerSlam weekend with the two never diverting away from each other.
NXT Founder Triple H sat down with Josiah Williams to explain why NXT can do longer stories.
“There’s intention there to run long-term storylines and keep those story arcs going when you can, but some of it is, it’s just how it ended up,” said Triple H. “We have the luxury of not having to write three hours of television every week or get through multiple pay-per-views in a short period of time. That’s an exponentially different way of writing that makes you have to go through stuff faster and burn through things. When you can do it at a slower pace and tell that story, when you’re not bombarded by it at all times, you can make [the story] last longer and draw it out. Some of those storylines are things that, injuries happen and you have to change your thinking in the middle of a storyline. Sometimes, genius comes out of that chaos.”
NXT held its latest round of television tapings last night. You can find out what’s scheduled to happen in the coming weeks of NXT TV by clicking here.
