Triple H Explains Why He Was Afraid For Daniel Bryan To Leave WWE

Triple H states that he has Daniel Bryan's safety as a top priority.

The afternoon of March 20th is one that will never be forgotten in the wrestling world as that was the time that WWE announced that former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan had been cleared to return to in-ring competition after being forced to retire due to concussion related issues. Bryan's road to a return for WWE was one that both complicated and a bit of whirlwind. But now, Bryan is scheduled to compete at WrestleMania 34 as he will team up with Shane McMahon to take on the trouble-makers of the blue-brand Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn.

Founder and senior producer of the NXT brand Triple H spoke with ESPN recently to promote WrestleMania 34 which is in seven days. On numerous occasions Triple H has given his take on a possible return to in-ring action for the leader of the "Yes" movement. Over the past few months even dating back to the later end of 2017, Bryan would tease leaving the WWE to wrestle elsewhere if they had not cleared him; seeing as how his contract expires on the 1st of September this year. Triple H stated that a part of him was concerned for Bryan because he was debating going to wrestle for another company/promotion who would not have his best interest at heart when it came to his issues prior to getting clearance.

"There's a certain point in time when Daniel is not still cleared by us, but he's gotten clearance from his team and his people and all his things, and I'm sure he was already training and doing things," Triple H stated. "Maybe not taking bumps, but training and doing the things he wanted to do to get himself back in shape just in case this did happen. So while we were making him go to additional doctors, and running more tests and doing all these things to ensure that everything was all right, he was preparing." He continued, "Part of me was so afraid in the period of time when it [was] all going down that he was going to walk and say 'forget it' and go wrestle for someone else that doesn't care, that doesn't take their health into consideration, because that's pretty much everywhere else and risk his life and his health and his family and his baby and risk all of it, and it's not worth that. We take enough risk every day in what we do. Every day. Luckily we never got there, and luckily things worked out," he continued. "It's funny, because as Bryan was putting out things like, 'I'm going to do this if they won't let me do that,' he was already working the information. He was already getting those tests done. He was already getting that stuff done. … Looking back on it, he was already prepping. He was prepping everything about it."

Daniel Bryan is back and appears to not have lost a step. Check out what the GM of SmackDown Live had to say about what he is going to do to Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn at WrestleMania, by heading over to our SmackDown Live results from this past Tuesday's show.
