Triple H Clarifies Changes In His New Job Title

A few months ago, Triple H was handed a new title, but nobody really knew what that meant.

When a proxy statement revealed Triple H was now Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development, many said that he’d been given a demotion. He even joked about it on the first Smackdown from the Performance Center, saying that he’s the only guy that can get demoted and work more. However, on Sunday night, we learned about the new title.

Fightful.com asked Triple H what went in to his new job description.

“It really didn’t (change),” Triple H told Sean Ross Sapp on a media call. “It was just to make a concerted focus with NXT being live every week and NXT UK, obviously before the pandemic. Plus, the increase drive from us to shift to a larger international presence in the same format. Replicating what we did with NXT (in the US) and NXT UK, taking that to a whole other level. Going to other countries; India, Middle East, Latin America, Japan, Mexico. Putting a focused increase on all of that. I still do all of the stuff I did before, I just don’t have the day-to-day responsibilities. Sometimes, people see the titles, but they don’t understand what’s going on and the responsibilities of what the categories are. I don’t have to have the day-to-day responsibilities of live events domestically and internationally, which is a lot. The talent relations aspect, the travel, all those aspects, the intense day-to-day; those were all things that I was responsible for that was taken off my plate to give me more freedom to be able to grow internationally and development of talent and expand that out.”

There’s no word on how Triple H’s compensation changed with the new role. Below was the original statement ont he move.

“Paul “Triple H” Levesque has served as our Executive Vice President, Global Talent Strategy & Development since February 2020, and prior thereto was Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative since August 2011. In his current role, he oversees the Company’s Talent Relations and Talent Development departments. Additionally, Mr. Levesque plays an integral role in the Company’s creative process, helping shape the creative direction and storylines of WWE’s programming.

Mr. Levesque is revolutionizing the business with his global recruiting strategy and developmental training processes. In order to create a platform for future success, he established the Company’s state of the art training facility, the WWE Performance Center, which paved the way for the WWE’s third global brand, NXT. Mr. Levesque debuted as a WWE Superstar, “Triple H”, in 1995 and has held the WWE Heavyweight Championship title 14 times. He has captured every major championship, headlined thousands of WWE events, and entertained millions around the world. Mr. Levesque is married to Stephanie McMahon and together they established Connor’s Cure. Mr. Levesque is the son-in-law of Vincent McMahon.”
