Triple H Challenges Jinder Mahal For India Show, Replacing Kevin Owens; Mahal Responds
With Jinder Mahal no longer WWE Champion, the upcoming India shows are seeing a shift.
Former WWE Champion Triple H posted on Twitter Saturday night, issuing a challenge for "the biggest match in the history of India," calling out Jinder Mahal for New Delhi on December 9 at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.
Perhaps more interesting than Jinder not going into India as champ is that he's not facing Kevin Owens on the show, who was sent home from the UK tour this week for "conduct detrimental to WWE" along with his friend and tag team partner Sami Zayn. There's no word on Owens' status for the December 8 show in the same city and arena.
Mahal had been WWE Champion since May and was scheduled to face Brock Lesnar at this month's WWE Survivor Series show. However on the latest edition of Smackdown, Mahal lost the championship to AJ Styles and was subsequently replaced in the match. As of time of publish, Mahal has no scheduled match for the PPV.
After losing the title, Mahal unleashed a verbal tirade on detractors who speculated he lost the championship due to a company wellness violation. He would respond and accept Triple H's challenge.
Triple H has been much more active in the ring of late. After a slew of injuries and illnesses changed WWE live event cards, the 48-year old has worked matches in the UK, Chile and Portugal.
