Trainer Tony Horton Says He Might Be In A Film About Gorgeous George, ‘I Know The Director’

Gorgeous George was one of the top stars in wrestling during the first golden age of the sport. Known for his charisma, George transcended the sport and influenced the likes of Muhammad Ali and James Brown.

While speaking to John Morrison on Power Up, trainer Tony Horton commented that he has been doing research on George as he might be in a movie about him.

“I might be in a movie about Gorgeous George,” he said before commenting that he’d like to stay in touch with Morrison, noting a potential role for him in the film. “I know the director really well, he’s a buddy of mine. I’ll probably have four lines.”

It was reported by Deadline in 2010 that WWE Films would be producing a film about George. There were very few updates regarding the film until The Hollywood Reporter reported that Josh Gad and Ryan Dixon were writing the script for the film. The report noted that WWE Studios and Great Point Media were developing the film.

There have been no further updates on the film and no director was ever announced. It is unknown if the film Horton mentions in the interview is related to the film that was previously announced in 2010.
