Tony Schiavone Explains Why Tony Khan Appeared On AEW Dark: Elevation
AEW President Tony Khan made a rare television appearance on Monday’s AEW Dark: Elevation, confronting Kenny Omega and booking him in a match for the March 24 AEW Dynamite.
Khan has often said he doesn’t want to be a television character, but has broken that rule for weekly appearances on IMPACT Wrestling in “paid ads” and for the Brodie Lee Tribute Show, which he felt was necessary given the situation.
Taking to social media on Monday night, Tony Schiavone, who serves as an announcer on AEW Dark: Elevation, explained Khan’s reasoning behind the appearance.
I know @TonyKhan very well. He never wants to take up TV time with an appearance, but needed to deliver a message tonight on #Elevation to an out-of-control Kenny Omega. He’s never done that on Dynamite and never intends to, but tonight he was the only one that could do it. @AEW
