Here is your post-AEW/WWE fight size update for Friday, May 6, 2022.

AEW Rampage

– In the opening match of the night, Toni Storm and Ruby Soho picked up the win over Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. All four women have qualified for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament which is set to get underway this coming Wednesday.

– Eddie Kingston called into Rampage and told Chris Jericho that he is going to make him hurt and feel the same fear Eddie’s wife felt when Chris decided to make their feud personal.

– Tony Nese has formally requested a match against Danhausen for next week when AEW is in his hometown.

– After HOOK defeated JD Drake, Danhausen came out and asked HOOK to be in his corner when he fights Nese. HOOK shoved Danhausen to the ground, but Danhausen left behind a bag of chips as a present for HOOK.

– Though he loves that the fans are cheering FTR, Dax Harwood dislikes Adam Cole so much that he plans on being his old ‘nasty bastard’ self when they face off on Wednesday in an Owen Hart Foundation Tournament quarterfinal match.

– Riho defeated Yuka Sakazaki to qualify for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. After the match, AEW revealed the bracket for the tournament. Britt Baker drew the mystery ‘Joker’ entrant in round one.

– Frankie Kazarian exchanged words with Men of the Year during which he and Scorpio Sky agreed to have their TNT Championship match next Friday on Rampage.

– In the main event, Jay Lethal defeated Konosuke Takeshita. After the match, Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh beat up Best Friends. Samoa Joe tried to come out and save the day but was held back by security before he could get in the ring.

WWE SmackDown

Charlotte Flair and Aliyah were supposed to open the show, but after some disparaging remarks from The Queen brought out Ronda Rousey, the WrestleMania Backlash opponents had a pull-apart brawl, voiding tonight’s match in the process.

– Shayna Baszler was able to defeat Sasha Banks thanks to Natalya who held down Sasha’s leg during a roll-up. Baszler and Natalya will challenge Banks and Naomi for the Women’s Tag Titles next Friday.

– Madcap Moss crashed the newest edition of Happy Talk and said that for the next stage of Corbin’s career he could try being Entertaining Corbin.

– Drew Gulak’s mystery opponent was revealed to be Gunther. Sufficed to say, things did not go well for Gulak.

– Lost for weeks, Butch revealed himself to be hiding under the ring. He would help Sheamus and Ridge Holland win their Tables Match against Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston.

– After five weeks of hearing the story of Lacey Evans, she made her first appearance in front of a live crowd since going off television following her pregnancy announcement.

– Sami Zayn was able to defeat Shinsuke Nakamura via count out in the final match on SmackDown.

– SmackDown ended with The Bloodline coming out to confront RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre, but things didn’t go their way as Roman Reigns ate a Claymore Kick heading into their six-man tag team match at WrestleMania Backlash.
