Tony Khan Taking More Control Of AEW Creatively, Ideas He’s Worked On | Exclusive

It would appear that Tony Khan is taking the bull by the horns in All Elite Wrestling.

With several EVPs, many wondered early on how much influence The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and others coupled with the fact that founder Tony Khan had the “final say.” As it turns out, things have expanded well beyond that, as reported on our Fightful Select service this week.

The Fightful Select update read as follows.

I’m told that people in AEW have been having fun working on the creative aspects of the Hangman Page storyline. Tony Khan specifically has evolved from being the person with the final say to a person developing more stories and ideas creatively of his own, as well as being more outspoken about other people’s ideas. Thus far, we’ve heard that his creative input has been received positively from people on the roster. That Hangman Page story specifically was one that he’s worked closely on and contributed to heavily.

Kenny Omega is credited with the idea of turning Britt Baker heel internally, and the promo lines about Tony Schiavone’s job were said to have come from Tony Khan.

In addition, we’ve reported on the backstage influence of Chris Jericho being outspoken. None of this is to say that any of the EVPs or anyone else is losing influence backstage, only that we’ve heard Khan is speaking up and taking charge more.
