Tony Khan: Matt Cardona Is One Of The Top Independent Wrestlers In The World
Matt Cardona is set to challenge Chris Jericho for the ROH World Title at ROH Final Battle at Hammerstein Ballroom.
Cardona confronted Jericho on the December 5th episode of ROH on HonorClub, setting up the title match. ROH Final Battle will mark Cardona’s debut in the promotion.
Speaking to Raj Prashad of Uproxx, AEW/ROH CEO Tony Khan said Cardona is “a proud New Yorker” and “one of the top independent wrestlers in the world.”
Cardona regularly wrestles at GCW and other independent promotions.
Jericho won the ROH World Title in a ladder war against Mark Briscoe on the October 23rd episode of AEW Dynamite. He has made one successful title defense, defeating Tomohiro Ishii on the November 27th episode of AEW Dynamite.
