Tony Khan: I Don’t Know If It Would Have Been Possible To Launch AEW Without Chris Jericho’s Involvement
AEW celebrates five years of AEW Dynamite on October 2nd with its fifth year anniversary show.
The company launched in 2019 with a handful of top names from the independent scene including Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson), Hangman Page, and more. The biggest early signing for the promotion was Chris Jericho, who was a free agent and came over from the WWE.
Speaking on Q93, Tony Khan reflected on five years of AEW, and praised Jericho.
“I don’t know if it would have been possible for us to launch AEW without Chris Jericho’s involvement. He’s been a fixture and a great part of AEW throughout the five years,” he said.
Jericho was the first-ever AEW World Champion.
He currently leads Big Bill and Bryan Keith as “The Learning Tree.”
