Tony Khan Doesn’t Want To Rule Out Possibility Of Undisputed Elite vs. Elite Potentially Happening
On the August 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, the Undisputed Elite imploded as Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, & Bobby Fish turned on The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson).
There was little follow up to the angle as Cole and O’Reilly were sidelined with injuries, Fish’s contract with AEW wasn’t renewed, and Kenny Omega returned to align with The Young Bucks.
Despite there being no immediate plans for a follow up due to injuries, non-renewals, and now suspensions to The Elite, Tony Khan isn’t ruling out the possibility of there being a trios match at some point between the two teams.
“It’d be interesting to go back and think about it. Certainly, while it hasn’t come to fruition, you never know. I certainly wouldn’t want to rule out the possibility of some day that potentially happening. On the other hand, you mentioned injuries and unforeseen circumstances that have taken place. Those are all great wrestlers and two great trios,” Khan said when asked about a possible Undisputed Elite vs. Elite match on In The Kliq.
The Elite were the first AEW Trios Champions, but had to vacate the titles days after winning them at AEW All Out due to a backstage altercation with CM Punk and Ace Steel.
It is unknown when The Elite, Cole, or O’Reilly will return to AEW television.
Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
