Tony Khan Says CM Punk’s Comments Towards AEW Was ‘Interesting Timing’

Tony Khan discusses decision to air AEW All In footage.

On Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) will air backstage footage from AEW All In. While not confirmed, the implication is that the footage will feature the incident between Jack Perry and CM Punk.

The decision to air the footage comes just over a week after CM Punk recounted his experience in AEW, including his side of what happened at AEW All In, on the MMA Hour

Speaking to Raj Prashad of Uproxx, Tony Khan was asked about Punk’s comments and if they had anything to do with the decision to air the All In footage.

“That was interesting timing given where everything stands,” he said.

Khan continued, giving more insight into AEW’s decision to air the footage.

“It’ll be a must-see segment when the Young Bucks play this footage and talk about what happened at Wembley Stadium and how it relates to what’s coming up next for the Young Bucks in AEW,” Khan said. “I think that it will create a lot of interest in what this is all about. And I think the Young Bucks will have an explanation for why they think this is important and why it’s relevant to what’s going on at AEW Dynasty on pay-per-view.

“For us, this is a decision based on the timing of our upcoming pay-per-view, AEW Dynasty, and given where the Young Bucks stand going into the World Tag Team Championship Tournament finals at AEW Dynasty. This was the right time and place for them to play this footage and talk about why it’s relevant to them and AEW going forward and what this means going into AEW Dynasty.”

The Young Bucks faced FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) at AEW All In. FTR won the bout.

The two teams will meet again at AEW Dynasty to determine the new AEW Tag Team Champions.

Fightful will have coverage of AEW Dynamite beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
