Tony Khan Announces The Return Of A Ranking System To AEW
It’s back to basics for AEW as wrestlers will once again be expected to climb up the rankings.
When All Elite Wrestling was formed in 2019, there was a huge emphasis placed on wins and losses and a ranking system. Initially, this is how top challengers were determined for title holders in AEW. Eventually, the ranking system went away, as AEW became a more story-driven product.
Tony Khan announced on Twitter on Saturday, January 20, 2024, that a ranking system would return to the company beginning later this month.
The Rankings are coming back to AEW going forward, starting this month!@AEW is having a very exciting January, and this is only the beginning of an amazing 2024 for AEW and our fans.

No official start date for these rankings was given.
Since Samoa Joe captured the AEW World Title, he has placed a great emphasis on wanting to return the product to a more sports-centered, wrestling-focused brand.
Fightful will provide more details on the returning ranking system once details are given.
