Toni Storm Talks Being NXT UK Women’s Champion, Issues Traveling With The Title

Toni Storm said she still doesn’t believe she is actually the NXT UK Women’s Champion.

In a recent interview with Alicia Atout, Storm talked about how much she loves being a champion and admitted that she’s amazed every time she looks at her title belt.

“It doesn’t feel real, it’s really, really weird. Like, I’ll see my belt and think it’s one of the replicas I had when I was growing up and then I’m like, ‘Oh wait, this is real!’ It’s crazy, it’ll never sink in. It’s pretty wild,” Storm said.

While she said she truly enjoys being the promotion’s women’s champion, she doesn’t enjoy certain parts that come with holding the title, mainly the traveling. Storm shared a story about how every time she travels with the title, it takes her at least an hour to go through security because the belt attracts a crowd.

“I love being the champion, but the belt is really heavy, pulling on my shoulders and killing me. It’s not even a match, it’s the luggage. Going through security, I’m sick of the same thing that happens where it gets pulled over for security and I have to wait at least an hour all the time. No matter what, it’s always me. They got to take the belt and show it to everyone and be like, ‘We got a wrestler over here,’ Everyone just crowds around and start waving it and I’m like, ‘Can we not? Everyone’s looking and I don’t have any makeup on and I’m trying to go on a flight somewhere.’ If security people can just back off a little, just let me get to where I need to be, that’ll be great,” Storm said.

Storm will defend her NXT UK Women’s title against Kay Lee Ray at NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff in Cardiff, Wales. The full interview can be seen in the video at the top of the page.
