Tim Storm Promises The NWA Will Be Back

Raven made headlines on July 16 when he stated that he had heard through the grapevine that NWA President Billy Corgan would be shutting down the promotion, saying Corgan had become “disillusioned.” Corgan quickly put the rumors to bed, saying the company will not be shutting down.

Though the NWA is still in business, it is unknown when the promotion will return to running live events.

Speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, Tim Storm commented on the rumors of a shutdown and promised the NWA will return.

“I’ve been apart of a lot of discussions about direction and how we move forward and I’m appreciative to know that. It’s such a difficult time for wrestling, for all of us. The thing that popped that discussion in the rumor mill was a comment by Raven. All he was doing was answering a question and giving his opinion. He never said, ‘I have the inside scoop here.’ He was asked, he answered the question. We’re in a time right now where we are hungry for sports news and it doesn’t take but that one statement in an interview and all of a sudden, now we’re shutting down. Billy Corgan posted a response and it was exactly what it should be. I’m getting to wrestle very little. It’s not completely safe for fans, for the people in the ring. We’ll be back. Nobody knows what time. We’re searching. Everybody is searching,” he said.

Storm was the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion when Corgan purchased the company and is one of the top stars in the promotion.

Stu Bennett, who serves as a commentator for the company, said he doesn’t see NWA running shows for the rest of the year. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
