Tim Storm Got Five-Figure Offer To Drop NWA Title In Japan Against NWA’s Wishes
When the NWA was purchased by Billy Corgan in 2017, Tim Storm was the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Many figured Storm would quickly drop the title and, being that he was 53 years old, be on his way. But Storm turned into one of the bigger stars in NWA and still has a prominent role in the company.
But things could have been much different if Storm had accepted a big offer from a Japanese promotion to drop the NWA World Heavyweight Title shortly after Corgan took ownership.
“One of the new series we’re going to be producing during this time is and Tim is going to tell it from his side of the five-figure offer to go to Japan and drop the title to somebody against our wishes. Tim is a stand-up human. He’s never failed on any platform in communication. Everyone’s like, ‘Okay, Ten Pounds, it’s a documentary.’ And then he walks out on Powerrr and captivates people every time. Tim is an ambassador,” said NWA Vice President David Lagana in an interview with Muscle Man Malcolm.
Lagana didn’t reveal the promotion that made the offer to Storm, but it looks like there will be details in an upcoming series NWA is producing.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, NWA Powerrr won’t proceed as scheduled, but NWA continues to release content every Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. ET on YouTube.
