Thunder Rosa Wants To Defend AEW Women’s Title In Japan And Mexico, Showcase Different Styles
Thunder Rosa won the AEW Women’s Championship from Britt Baker at AEW Dynamite St. Patrick’s Day Slam in a cage match.
Baker held the AEW Women’s Title since Double or Nothing 2021 and made history with the belt by main eventing the first-ever AEW Rampage, AEW Dynamite Grand Slam, and AEW Battle or the Belts.
Rosa hopes to be a fighting champion herself and wants to travel across the world with the belt.
“I really hope there is an opportunity for me to be a fighting champion. I would love to travel with the championship. I know we have connections with Japan. I worked in Tokyo Joshi Pro before. I would love if there was an opportunity for me to bring the championship and defend it in Japan. If there’s an opportunity to defend it in Mexico. Do some of the stuff that we haven’t done yet,” she said on Throwing Down with Miesha Tate & Renee Paquette.
She continued by saying, “I’m really huge on bringing a different style of wrestling. This will be interesting because I will be able to work with people you guys probably haven’t seen before and work in a different style and showcase what we can do. I’m really hoping we’re given this opportunity. There’s a huge opportunity for me to bring a different look to the women’s championship. I do a lot of stuff in the community and I want to make sure I represent the company with honor and respect and I bring the title every time I come and do something with the community. It’s important for those kids, women, and men that they see someone who looks like them can make it far and to give an example of that. I also want to bring another type of leadership into the locker room. I’m working on it and we’re working on a lot of stuff and I’m hopeful we’re able to do a lot of cool stuff in and out of the ring.”
Rosa noted the reaction she got when she brought the belt to a local taco place that she frequents while filming her newest taco vlog and the reaction at the Boys & GIrls Club when the kids see the belt.
Rosa’s celebration with the title was cut short on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite when she was attacked by Nyla Rose. You can find results from AEW Dynamite by clicking here.
