To kick off the April 22 episode of AEW Rampage, Adam Cole battled NJPW’s Tomohiro Ishii in a qualifying match for the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament. The winner of the match would secure their spot alongside Kyle O’Reilly and Samoa Joe on the bracket.
The bout came to a close after Bullet Club leader Jay White came to ringside and attacked Rocky Romero, who was in the corner along with Orange Cassidy. This distraction allowed Cole to hit a low blow, lower the boom, and pin Ishii to officially qualify for the tournament.
