Terry Thatcher Reflects On Facing Off With Timothy Thatcher In The ‘Thatcherbowl’

Terry Thatcher reflects on working with Timothy Thatcher as part of the Thatcherbowl.

Terry Thatcher wants a rematch in the form of a second Thatcherbowl.

Back in 2019 at OTT Martina’s Gaff Party, long time veteran of Irish wrestling Terry Thatcher faced off in singles competition with former NXT star Timothy Thatcher in a battle of the Thatcher’s in wrestling.

While Terry would come up short in the bout, it was still a match that was years in the making for the Irish veteran. While speaking to Fightful’s Corey Brennan in a recent interview, Terry reflected on the Thatcherbowl.

“Oh yeah. That had been kind of, I don’t want to say years in the making, but at least for me it was, because once it was like, God, there’s another Thatcher around. We have to have this, like it has to be like a Thatcherbowl. This was also around the height of Game of Thrones as well. So it was all Cleganebowl. So I was like all this is gonna be amazing. It made perfect sense because like, I’m the guy who you get beat up and he’s the guy who really enjoys beating people up. So like it kind of sold itself. But yeah he was an interesting cat, like he really you know, completely stays off of social media. How he walks is so different. He doesn’t hit the ropes at all. If you watch some of his matches, you won’t notice it initially until someone points it out. It’s like, holy shit, he doesn’t ever actually hit the ropes. He might lean on them a little, but he very rarely does Irish whips or anything like that. You go in trying to plan a match and go, oh, wait, no, this is very different. This is a very different approach. But yeah, I have a bit of a technical base, but I think a lot of my strengths in that area is one of my weaknesses in every other area because I am so small. But I guess it’s hard to pin down that I can manoeuvre my way out of a lot of situations. Yeah, I think that that helps me in a lot of aspects. But yeah, that was another, that was, yeah, like you said, a very different type of uh of pain but still very painful anyway.”

Thatcher is closing in on 20 years as a professional wrestler, and has competed all over Ireland for multiple different promotions.

Elsewhere in his interview with Fightful, Terry also reflected on working with Bronson Reed. You can read more about that here.
