Terrence And Terrell Hughes Discuss Working For AEW, Say They’ll Be Back In August
As the sons of D-Von Dudley, Terrence and Terrell Hughes grew up in the wrestling business. They have followed in their dads footsteps, becoming a tag team who have worked on the Independent scene and had a handful of matches on AEW Dark.
The twin brothers were first brought in to AEW in November 2020 and have gotten steady work throughout the pandemic.
Speaking on Sunset Flip radio, the brothers discussed their time in AEW and compared it to working at WWE as extras.
“Over the coronavirus, it gave a lot of people opportunities. Dark is something that happened as the virus happened and they had to locate in Jacksonville, so some good came of that. We were doing extra work with WWE and AEW at that time. We were doing RETRIBUTION stuff and (Raw) Underground stuff. We had a tryout with WWE and then went over to AEW. We were just trying to get opportunities anywhere we could. Our experience at AEW was really cool because WWE extra work, you’re able to do stuff, but it’s limited and you don’t always get matches. Sometimes you’re in the background or you do security. With AEW, you’re a little more involved because you get to do matches and wrestle their top talent. That was cool. We got to wrestle pretty much all the top tag team except Private Party. We go with (AEW) as each week goes. As of right now, we are not contracted to them fully, but we’re still doing extra work and coming back in August,” said T.
AEW is set to run Daily’s Place again on August 4.
When asked how much notice they have to appear for AEW, Hughes replied, “The last show we did, I texted the day before and just asked, ‘Do you guys have an opening?’ and they said ‘Yes, come tomorrow’ and we just drove to Jacksonville. One time, I texted like a month before. WWE does that too. They’re not really particular about it. Last time was 24-hour notice. Nick Comoroto, who is signed to AEW, they called him and said ‘can you get on a flight in the next five hours?’ He took his bag and took a flight. It sounds like they do that for people out of state. One time, we did a WWE tryout, it’s a four-day tryout and a guy showed up on the second or third day. They called him and said, ‘can you come here tomorrow?’ He just flew in. It depends if they really want to see you that bad.”
T added, “They don’t have to fly us out, which makes it easy. If NXT is doing something at the PC or Full Sail while AEW is at Daily’s Place, the PC is only 15-20 minutes and Jacksonville is a two-hour drive. We literally need no notice.”
TNT last competed for AEW on July 6 (taped on June 30) episode of AEW Dark, losing to The Factory (Aaron Solow & QT Marshall).

**AUTHORS NOTE** Due to the twins having similar voices, the interview being audio, and the lack of verbal clues, rather than guess who was speaking, I have used “T” and “Hughes” to differentiate the speakers. The brothers previously mentioned in an interview with Chris Van Vliet that this ensures correctness.
