Tay Melo: Going To Japan Has Been A Dream For A Long Time; I Want To Wrestle Giulia More Than Anyone
Tay Melo reiterates her desire to wrestle in Japan.
Tay Melo is still a relatively new wrestler, signing with WWE in 2016 and joining AEW in 2020 when she was released by her previous employer.
Since joining All Elite Wrestling, she is only continued to improve and now, she’s once again expressing a desire to wrestle in Japan.
Speaking with Dark Puroresu Flowsion, Melo noted she wants to wrestle as many Joshi wrestlers as possible but, more than anyone, she wants to wrestle STARDOM’s Giulia
“Honestly, I want to wrestle them all. I love Japanese style. It’s part of my roots because of judo. I always loved the culture, the language, the respect they have for each other, and the hard work. It’s no surprise that I want to wrestle Giulia more than anyone else. I can’t wait to share a ring with her one day,” she said.
The Jericho Appreciation Society member reflected on training with KAIRI, IYO Sky, and Meiko Satomura in NXT and stated that she is simply waiting for the opportunity to be able to ply her trade in Japan.
“Going to Japan has been a dream for a long time, even before wrestling. I know that I’ll learn a lot and it can change my career for the better,” said Tay. “I remember training with Meiko Satomura for a little bit in NXT. I asked her to help me with my kicks and the way she teaches, the way she moves is everything, I just loved it. I had the pleasure to work with Kairi, Io Shirai, and Shida, and man I always learned a lot from them and had so much fun. It’s truly the style I love and feel comfortable [with]. I’m super open to going to Japan, I really want to go. I’m waiting for the opportunity.”
This is not the first time Melo is expressing a want to wrestle in Japan. She had previously stated that she hoped the opportunity would come in 2022. Fans can read her comments at this link.
Melo hasn’t wrestled since the January 13 episode of AEW Rampage. On that night, she and Anna Jay represented the Jericho Appreciation Society in a losing effort to Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale in a Street Fight.
Fightful’s Scott Edwards recently spoke with Melo’s dream opponent, Giulia. Fans can check out that interview here.
