Tamina Reflects On ‘Mental Hospital’ Vignettes

In June 2020, Tamina released a vignette on social media that showed her inside a mental hospital, wrapped in a straightjacket.

The vignette, which was posted and then deleted on social media, came after she lost to Bayley in a SmackDown Women’s Championship bout at WWE Money in the Bank and had been off television.

Speaking to Ryan Satin on Out of Character, Tamina reflected on the vignettes that never hit WWE TV.

“It was such a big thing and I wanted it to happen, so bad. I had the pay-per-view match with Bayley and I lost. Nobody heard from me, it had been a couple of weeks. I was like, ‘I’m so mad and so frustrated’ because I still wanted to beat her ass. In the segment, I put it together, and in my mind the way I thought was, ‘Tamina has straight lost her mind’ and I snapped. That’s the way I felt, I was about to snap. You get in this mode where you actually wanted to snap and break something because you’re so frustrated that you can’t have this title match again. ‘Are you serious? What do you mean I can’t have this title match again? Why, because I lost?’ In your mind, you’re like, ‘Hell no, I’m about to go crazy.’ That’s what it was. It was a snap of years and years. You keep going and still can’t get a damn title. That’s what that was. Everyone goes through it, you know damn well everybody does,” she said.

When asked if there was a chance WWE could circle back to the story, Tamina said, “This is the great thing about WWE. You never know, things come back around. I love it. Let’s put it back in the universe, let’s bring it back.”

Tamina eventually returned to WWE TV in the fall of 2020 and found herself in a team with Natalya heading into WrestleMania 37.

Tamina is currently part of the WWE Raw brand and last competed on TV in a Last Chance Money In The Bank Qualifying Six Pack Elimination bout on the June 27 episode of WWE Raw.

Elsewhere during the podcast, Tamina discussed The Rock buying her a new home. You can find her full comments by clicking here.
