Tama Tonga comments on leaving NJPW.

At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18, Tama Tonga revealed that January would be his last month with NJPW, and he finished up with the company in February. In his last NJPW match at NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo on February 24, he and Tanga Loa lost to Hikuleo and El Phantasmo.

In his post-match comments, Tonga was greeted by Hikuleo and Phantasmo singing “See You Again” by Charlie Puth. He then thanked them and noted that it had been quite a journey. Phantasmo praised his remarkable run in NJPW.

Tama Tonga: What a journey it has been. I would not trade it for anything in this world. Thank you. Thank you guys.

El Phantasmo: One of the most iconic tag teams in New Japan history. All the World Tag Leagues, Wrestle Kingdoms, dope-ass gear, sick-ass face paint. You guys paved one hell of a road for us. If we can get half as far as you guys did, then we’ll consider that a success. Thank you, brother.

TT: New Japan, thank you. Thank you for giving me a chance here in New Japan. When I came to New Japan, Jado was my trainer. He worked hard on us. He trained us very hard every single day. We had to give it 100%. If it wasn’t for Jado in the very beginning, I don’t know where I’d be. Jado, thank you very much. Last but not least, the fans, thank you. Thank you for accepting me. Thank you for taking me in. Thank you for giving me a home. Wherever I go in this world here on after, I want you to know that because of you, because of New Japan, you guys have made this my home. This will always be my home, wherever I go. When you see me, I will always let the world know that New Japan, that Japan is my home. It always will be. Thank you.
