Takeshi Morishima’s Comeback Delayed
The comeback of Takeshi Morishima will be delayed.
Dave Meltzer notes in the Wrestling Observer that Morishima has fallen ill with sepsis, putting him in the hospital for at least a month. Morishima is still planning on making a comeback, but it may not happen until the spring of 2019.
Morishima was originally set to return to the ring on his 40th birthday, Oct. 15, at Pro Wrestling NOAH’s ‘Genesis’ event.
The former ROH World Champion retired in 2015. Diabetes was cited as the original reason for his retirement, but Morishima later confirmed that he was in a poor mental and physical state, leading to his departure from wrestling.
Morishima is best known to US fans for his ROH run in 2007. He won the ROH World Title from Homicide in February of that year before losing the title to Nigel McGuinnes in October. His feud with Daniel Bryan during that year produced a handful of classic bouts between the two.
He is a former three-time GHC Heavyweight Championship in NOAH. He also worked two WWE dark matches in August 2008.
