TAELER: Red Velvet Fighting For Her Own AEW Contract
Between AEW Dark on YouTube and AEW Dynamite on TNT Drama, every Tuesday and Wednesday, there’s been numerous examples of Pro Wrestlers rising to answer an opportunity’s call. A plethora of debuts and returns has provided fans with the ability to watch individual talents grow into their fullest potential. All fighting for a dream. A contract. One of them is Red Velvet.
Red Velvet has consistently been a mainstay hopeful stirring her way up the AEW Women’s ranks. Squaring off with insanely talented women like Tay Conti, Anna Jay, Ivelisse Velez, Nyla Rose, and others. She’s approached each appearance from a grateful mindset. Each opportunity. Training harder than she ever has. Studying more tape. Gaining knowledge in the pursuit of a dream. For when preparation meets the moment of the ultimate opportunity. To secure her very own AEW contract. Pen in hand at the ready to sign that life changing piece of paper. With every appearance she’s made from her AEW debut to today, you can see the subtle rise of her potential in the Pro Wrestling Industry.
Red Velvet is a woman very early on in her career and earning every inch of the squared circle without taking anything for granted. From an established competitive Dancing background turned to Pro Wrestling, Red Velvet is a comeback story you’ll want to know. To see. To cheer for and support. As I often say, anything easily gained is even easier to lose. Her journey to AEW has certainly not been an easy one. A journey full of twists and obstacles. Challenges forcing her to grow simultaneously as a performer and human being. Becoming stronger. More passionate. Humbled. And more resilient than she could have ever imagined.
A couple of years ago Red Velvet suffered what could have potentially been a career ending injury for some. A waking nightmare in the life of Pro Athletes. A spirit crushing blow to her young promising career in Pro Wrestling. An injury that would leave her having to be carried from the ring. Surgery imminent. Future unclear. She’d suffer through the torment of an unforgiving dark spiral. Equal parts: self doubt – uncertainty – unanswered questions – and adversity.
For over a month, Red Velvet couldn’t walk. Stuck on the sidelines being waylaid without her consent not content to sit back and watch. A sense of feeling as though the business is passing you by before you’ve even made your mark. Watching others do what she worked hard for while she felt her own independence slowly being stripped away from her. Basic things we often take for granted daily, she could no longer due. Needing to rely on others. For how long? Trying to walk again. Rehab. Physical therapy. Learning who she was in that moment and who she’d want to be from there on out going forward. Her why…
Fast forward and you see where that several year journey has taken her – AEW. Superstars in the making like Red Velvet are the future in Pro Wrestling. She’s a woman you’ll want to believe in as she’s already overcome the odds by making it to your T.V. screens. She’s not finished yet. She aims to get better and better and better still. You see her upward climb proving herself to everyone including herself with every step she takes both literally and figuratively.
Its with immense conviction that I wholeheartedly believe, “all you need is love, guts, and gumption.” Self love to realize that you and your dreams matter. Guts to go after your dreams while learning to believe in yourself when no one else will. And the gumption to see your dreams through without sacrificing your integrity as you cheer for yourself in the silence. Afterall every good story worth reading tests a protagonist to their breaking point in order to show how strong they truly are. Adversity is where we find ourselves and who we want to be in the world someday…
Tune in to AEW Dynamite every Wednesday on TNT Drama.
