TAELER: Deonna Purrazzo Named Impact Wrestling’s Wrestler Of The Year

Leading up to the new year, Impact Wrestling, aired two back to back holiday specials on AXS T.V.,and included ‘Best Moments of 2020’ clips on their Twitter. The holiday specials celebrated 2020 and the successes therein achieved by Impact Wrestling and its stars. Make no mistake, the culmination of moments from 2020 added even more indelible significance to Impact Wrestling’s valuable library of content. As IMPACT circumnavigated the pandemic stricken year, there was a star that was an impressive instant Knockout…

The Virtuosa Deonna Purrazzo made her debut in Impact Wrestling after waiting the allotted time after her exit from the WWE. Once Purrazzo entered the Impact Zone, The Virtuosa herself made it plain for all to see that she was no longer taking a backseat. No longer allowing others to dictate her value, worth, potential, and subsequently her journey. Instead, she was reaching out and taking that proverbial wheel with her own hands and sitting herself in the driver’s seat. Hands with which she’d control her own speed and narrative as well as a mightily effective fujiwara armbar to match her new motivation. Instantly, The Knockouts Division was put on notice. All including the then reigning Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace felt the calibre reverberating off of The Virtuosa Deonna Purrazzo. This forward momentum of The Virtuosa would inevitably result in what she would later refer to as the match of her career thus far.

Upon joining IMPACT Purrazzo immediately laser focused her sights on the Knockouts Championship Title. Her feud with then Champion Jordynne Grace was the perfect transition for Grace herself and resulted in a new career highlight for both as it led to a Knockouts Iron Woman Match. As Jordynne Grace was unsuccessful in taking back the title, she then went on to fight her way into becoming the third Knockout to ever challenge for the X-Division title. All the while, Purrazzo maintained her place at the top and even recaptured the title after a surprising loss.

Heading towards the end of 2020, Purrazzo saw herself to become a 2x Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion, a main event talent, an Iron Woman Match winner, and on to compete in the rebirth of the Knockouts Tag Team Titles. Titles held by Sarita, Tara, Taylor Wilde, and more! Deonna Purrazzo impeccably educated IMPACT fans as to what it means to be a Virtuoso – a person exhibiting exceptional knowledge and artful technique and skill. The self proclaimed Virtuosa found herself a home at Impact Wrestling in 2020. With less than a year in the Knockouts Division, Deonna Purrazzo carved out her own place in their proverbial history books.

The Virtuosa will end 2020 and emerge in 2021 as Knockouts Champion and Impact Wrestling’s 2020 Wrestler of the Year. Her first title defense will come in the guise of challenger Wera Loca – Taya Valkyrie. Valkyrie was and still is the longest ever reigning Knockouts Champion in their history prior to being dethroned by Jordynne Grace. Will Deonna Purrazzo maintain her reign and continue in her goal of becoming the new longest reigning Knockouts Champion? Thus continuing her masterful work of art since her key win at Slammiversary…? Or, will Taya Valkyrie reclaim the pinnacle seat once again? Tune in to Impact Wrestling on January 16. They once again will prove that they are indeed ‘Hard to Kill…’
