Sting Is Grateful That They Respect Their Elders In AEW

At the age of 63, Sting is still going strong in AEW.

At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Sting teamed with Darby Allin & Shingo Takagi to pick up a victory over El Phantasmo & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson). Sting joined AEW in December 2020 and returned to the ring, in cinematic form, at AEW Revolution 2021 after retiring in 2015.

While Sting is a veteran in AEW, he was one of the top stars in WCW during the Monday Night Wars era.

Speaking to The Schmo, Sting was asked if being in AEW reminded him of his days in WCW.

“Of course, this is wrestling, it’s going to be reminiscent of those old days for sure, but it is completely different and new, a whole new generation of wrestlers. I could be dad to more than half the guys here, maybe even granddad. I’m grateful that they have the level of respect that they have for their elders and somebody like me who is trying to come back and play in the game a little while longer,” said Sting.

When asked what brought him back to wrestling, Sting said, “Love of (the) game and a phone call. You have to have love of (the) game, of course, but Tony Khan called me and asked me if I wanted to come back and play for a little while longer and I said, ‘Alright, let me try this out,’ and here I am.”

Sting kicked off the trios match at Forbidden Door by jumping off the entrance ramp onto the Bullet Club members.
