Sting Discusses Working With RoboCop, Acting On ‘Thunder In Paradise’

In 1989, WCW brought in RoboCop to promote RoboCop 2. The robotic cop ended up saving Sting from an attack by the Four Horsemen.

In the movies, Peter Weller famously wore the RoboCop outfit.

In WCW, it was not Peter Weller.

“No no no. It was not Pete Weller (laughs). I think it was some stunt guy. I’m not sure who it was but I know it wasn’t Peter Weller. At the time, it was one of the most embarrassing things to endure. Now I am glad that it happened and I have an original Robocop shirt with both of us. I wear it sometimes for podcasts and it gets a good laugh,” Sting told “The Doctor” Chris Mueller of Bleacher Report.

RoboCop may have been one of Sting’s first brushes with movies and television, but it was not his last.

In 1994 he had a role on Hulk Hogan’s TV series “Thunder In Paradise.” Sting starred in four episodes as Adam ‘Hammerhead’ McCall.

Speaking about his time on “Thunder In Paradise,” Sting said, “Hulk was trying to get a second season because the ratings were really good. I ended up doing four episodes with the last one being a two-part with a sequel. They wanted me to do 20 out of 22 episodes for the next season to take some of the load off of Hogan. Even with the ratings, they pulled the plug on it.”

Sting continued by saying he’s not pursuing a career in acting, but would love to do voices for animated shows.

Elsewhere during the interview, Sting discussed his return to the ring at AEW Revolution. You can find his full comments by clicking here
