Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael To Be Inducted Into Pro Football Hall Of Fame
“Mongo” is headed to the Hall.
Steve “Mongo” Michael is set to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. McMichael played defensive tackle for the Bears from 1981 to 1993 and won a Super Bowl in 1985.
He was a two-time First-Team All-Pro, two-time Second-Team All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowler. McMichael led the Bears with 11.5 sacks in 1988. His 92.5 career sacks with the Bears rank second in franchise history, behind Richard Dent, who has 124.5 sacks.
In August 2023, McMichael was admitted to the ICU due to sepsis And pneumonia. McMichael is already fighting against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was diagnosed with the disease in January 2021.
McMichael is best known to wrestling fans as a member of the Four Horsemen during his time in WCW and a commentator on WCW Nitro. He is a former WCW United States Champion. He retired from the NFL in 1994 and joined WCW in 1995.
