Steve Maclin: If Nick Aldis Wants A Shot At The IMPACT World Title, He Has To Earn It
Steve Maclin became the new IMPACT World Champion at IMPACT Rebellion, defeating KUSHIDA for the vacant title.
It didn’t take long for a new challenger to emerge as Nick Aldis, who returned to the company at Rebellion, confronted Maclin, who had just laid out Scott D’Amore.
Speaking to Jeremy Lambert & Joel Pearl on In The Weeds, Maclin weighed in on Aldis stepping up to him.
“It’s funny how that family likes to stay in the limelight of everything and try to be in that spotlight while the future is trying to push forward and we have to try and stick in the past a little bit. If he wants a shot at the IMPACT World Title, he has to go earn it like I did. You don’t just get to waltz in,” stated Maclin.
The IMPACT World Title was vacated due to Josh Alexander suffering an injury. Mickie James, who is married to Aldis, had to vacate the Knockouts Championship ahead of Rebellion due to injury. Deonna Purrazzo, who is married to Maclin, won the vacant title at Rebellion.
Aldis is a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion when he performed under the name Magnus in the company.
Elsewhere during the interview, Maclin expressed his desire to face KENTA at IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse United 2. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
