Steve Maclin Discusses Coming Up With Traits For His Character Through Movies & Comic Books
Steve Maclin has plenty of things to pull from when looking for character inspiration.
Character development is a difficult thing to come by in today’s wrestling landscape, but when afforded the time, many performers will put quite a bit of effort into progressing their character to the next level.
Since joining the company in 2021, Steve Maclin has been one of IMPACT Wrestling’s most popular talents on a roster that also includes Josh Alexander, Eddie Edwards, and the Motor City Machine Guns.
In a new interview with WrestleZone, Maclin was asked about how he gains inspiration for his character in IMPACT Wrestling. Maclin noted that he doesn’t like to take all of the traits from a certain person in a movie or comic book, but instead likes to just take bits and pieces from several different people.
“Yeah, it’s one of those things where I try to take from what I see in a movie or in a comic book and I don’t try to be that person, I just try to take like a trait…[For Captain America], it’s more of the Nomad side of him where he’s not good, he’s not bad but he’s doing what he feels is right and I think everybody can relate to that. That’s just kind of how it is. Even in the Joker movie, he’s the biggest villain in the world but there’s a lot of relatable traits in that where like he’s been there the whole time and he could just be lying dead on the street and people will walk by him and nobody would have cared. I feel like a lot of people can relate to that as well and that’s what gets people behind [it]. Those are the things I kinda try to look for in certain things.”
Steve Maclin and KUSHIDA are set to battle over the vacant IMPACT World Championship at the Rebellion pay-per-view on Sunday, April 16. Fans can find more on the show’s card by clicking here.
