Steve Austin Isn’t So Sure It Was A Good Idea For Braun To Get Pinned After Just One F-5
Steve Austin was a guest on 107.7 The Bone and was asked what he thought about the finish of the Universal Championship match at No Mercy, where formerly unstoppable Monster Among Men Braun Strowman was successfully stopped by one beastly Brock Lesnar finishing move. Austin said he hadn't seen the match or its finish yet, but he had heard what happened, and from the sound of it, he thinks the WWE might have made a mistake with the booking.
"In hearing that I was surprised in that finish as well. Both guys I consider friends, but they have built Braun to be The Monster Among Men, and to me maybe you got to have something, a couple of F-5s or something to put a chink in the armor before the F-5 to keep Braun Strowman The Monster Among Men down for a three count. I have not seen the match, but from what you guys are telling me I would probably would tend to agree."
Earlier this month, on his own podcast, Austin made a prediction for the match, saying that while he believed that the WWE's plans are for Roman Reigns to be the one to take the title off of Brock at Wrestlemania 34, the No Mercy match had to end with Braun being protected.
"In my eyes, that belt ain't going to switch hands until Wrestlemania. But you don't want Brock to go over clean. By hook or by crook, something has to happen."
Something did happen. Brock went over clean.
