Steve Austin Is A Fan Of The Revival, Ciampa And Gargano
Steve Austin has never been shy to speak out in regards to the young talent in the WWE.
Austin has spoken up for the likes of Cesaro to Vince McMahon, and personally challenged Dean Ambrose to improve, and on a recent episode of the Steve Austin Show, he targeted a few more names. Austin spoke highly of Dash, Dawson, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano, as well as their match at NXT Takeover: Back To Brooklyn. (Transcript courtesy of Wrestlezone.com)
“I’ll tell you what, when I started watching that match – off the charts. … You guys started working the body part right off the bat, and I dug that. What I liked about the match was the layout. Viscous. Mean. You have a mean streak. Some of the key components I always talk about in being a good, effective heel, is just having a mean streak, and that’s what you guys got. You didn’t pander to the crowd, you’re not begging for approval or trying to elect a response that’s not there. On the other hand of the spectrum, your babyfaces – those two guys worked their asses off. Those guys have tremendous fire, and they sold like crazy, as did you guys. A lot of stuff in play here. Manipulation of the referee. … There was so much team work in this thing, it was very refreshing. I started smiling, because I started seeing a lot of things that you don’t see anymore in tag team wrestling. It builds to a great finish; tremendous finish. I was laughing my ass off, because I was so entertained to see such high level work, because I’m a huge tag team fan. I digested the match for a little bit, and then I went back and watched it again.”
The Revival have been praised for working their methodical, old school wrestling style that Austin often speaks about wanting to see return. Ciampa and Gargano have received high marks for their Cruiserweight Classic match from several weeks ago. It wouldn’t appear as if the legendary Austin has much booking pull these days due to his cries going unanswered, but this is still optimistic news for the two tandems.
