Steve Austin On Charlotte vs. Ronda Rousey: “It Reminded Me Of The Attitude Era”

Steve Austin continues to praise the work of Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey.

Following WWE Survivor Series, Steve Austin took to social media and declared, “Finally-Professional Wrestling is back.” in reference to Charlotte vs. Rousey.

On the latest episode of the Steve Austin Show, Austin expanded on his thoughts and went into detail on why he loved the match so much.

“That was my favorite match of the night. Not just the match, but the aftermath with the kendo stick, just the beatdown. The ‘Pillmanizing’ with the chair on Ronda’s head. There were some mixed reviews about this match,” said Austin. “Some people said, ‘there were a couple of things that were sloppy in this match.’ Bullshit. That was a badass, tough ass match. It reminded me a lot of something you would have seen in the Attitude Era. Two badass women. Charlotte really stepped up her game with the intensity level and went full bore. And Ronda Rousey knows she’s tough as nails. The style they worked, everything was snug as shit. It told a great story. I just loved it. When I think pro wrestling, F sports entertainment, when I think pro wrestling; this is what I would expect to see.”

Austin continued by saying, “Someone said ‘Charlotte carried her.’ I don’t know about that. And if it was the case, that’s what Charlotte’s job was to do. To carry the person who has less experience. People take things way too far and don’t even understand what they’re talking about.”

Rousey and Charlotte have earned high praise from the majority of viewers for their effort at Survivor Series. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp gave their bout a 7.5/10 and the post-match angle a 10/10 in his post-show ratings. Rousey suffered some minor cuts from the bout, but was glued up and ready to work the next night on Raw.
