Stephanie McMahon Says WWE Is In Conversations About Possibly Doing Another Mixed Match Challenge Tournament

Could another M.M.C. be on the way?

Earlier this year WWE established a tournament entitled the ‘Mixed Match Challenge’ which aired on Facebook Watch over the course of 12 weeks. The tournament consisted of teams of male and female superstars from both the RAW and SmackDown rosters teaming up with one another to compete for the ultimate prize of earning $100,000 for their respective charities that they chose to represent. The teams who lost in the tournament–their charities received a donation of $10,000. The duo of The Miz and Asuka ultimately won the tournament as they secured the grand prize for their charity ‘Rescue Dogs Rock’.

During the second episode of the show it was announced by WWE that the Mixed Match Challenge received 35 million total social media engagements during the first episode. Last month, a report came by way of Dave Meltzer which entailed that Facebook paid WWE around $100,000 for each episode of the M.M.C. that aired on Facebook Watch

During an interview with ‘The Drum’, Chief Brand Officer of WWE Stephanie McMahon discussed the possibility of WWE doing yet another Mixed Match Challenge tournament and stated that the company is in conversations about the steps that need to be taken to launch another M.M.C.

“It had over 100 million views and it was considered a success by Facebook. We’re now in conversations to see where we go from here, but we’re nimble and flexible,” Stephanie stated.

Stephanie also discussed WWE having a large creative writing staff and she explained that the role of a writer in WWE has evolved from the earlier days of the company with all of the television that they produce along with the various social media platforms that have become a necessity of sorts with getting the product to the masses.

“During that time the role really evolved because the platforms changed in terms of what we could write for. We had not only television and pay-per-view but we also had our publications business at that time. Then came social – YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, and we launched WWE Network,” she said
