Stephanie McMahon Comments On Bianca Belair And Steps WWE Is Taking Against Racial Injustice

Many organizations and people have spoken out against racial injustice over the past few weeks as the murder of George Floyd has sparked protests across America.

Bianca Belair has used her platform to direct fans to The Culture Connection, a website ran by her and her husband Montez Ford to inform people on how they can learn about black culture and history while supporting the community as well.

Speaking on a Women In The Business of Sports panel, Stephanie McMahon commented on Belair using her platform to help further the education.

“Bianca, I don’t know her very well personally, but I know her story and I’ve seen her rise through the ranks. She is one of the most incredibly gifted athletes I’ve ever seen. Her character is all sass and she will tell it like it is. Personally, she’s quite reserved and sweet, very different from her character. She is true to herself and her message and her man. I watched Bianca in the ring one night and sitting backstage was Montez and he had tears In his eyes and when she came to the back, they embraced and she had his full support. At that time, she was a little ahead of what he was doing,” she said.

“What they are doing with the Culture Connection is incredible. Anything we can do to amplify our voices and voices of all communities, but particularly the African American community. Having these conversations and hearing each other. Xavier Woods was doing an interview on Twitch and he said how he was taught how to no come across aggressive and how to pull himself back because of the color of his skin. I don’t think people know these stories. I know I haven’t heard them until recently.”

Many WWE superstars have used their platform to share their stories, including the New Day, who did a powerful podcast detailing their experiences and the current climate in the United States.

WWE put out a statement condemning racial injustice on June 2, but Stephanie doesn’t believe a statement is enough.

“It’s not enough to just put out a statement and say you’re going to do something. We’ve been doing a number of things across multiple sectors. From employees, we’re looking at different types of training, resources, and platforms to encourage our employees to speak and let them know that they are heard and any action items that come out of that. We’re looking to partner with a few different organizations to make sure we’re able to amplify and use our platforms in the best way possible. Education being primary. We’re not ready to make any formal announcement, but we’re getting further down the pike in something that will be meaningful for the community,” she said.

Vince McMahon reportedly sent an email to WWE staff that included links to different diversity training courses, which have reportedly been made available to WWE employees for free. Meanwhile, Triple H reportedly offered to talk about racial injustice with the NXT talent during the TakeOver: In Your House taping.
